SEWA (Self-Employed Women's Association) SEWA is India's largest women's mutual support organization dedicated to helping women achieve financial independence . In India, many women, due to gender and class disadvantages , need the signature of a male relative when borrowing money, making it difficult for them to control their finances. In order to change this predicament, SEWA founded SEWA Bank , which provides free deposits and low-interest loans , allowing women to truly gain economic autonomy.

Founder Ela Bhatt firmly believes that only when women have financial autonomy can social equality and liberation be truly achieved. SEWA also provides vocational training and medical insurance to continuously empower more women to change the future.
